Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, met with Aliyev Ayaz Ali Ogly, a member of the board of the community organization «Odessa Azerbaijani Diaspora «Birlik».

During the meeting, they discussed the implementation of the project to create the Azerbaijani Park, located near the 4th station of the Great Fountain. This green area has been officially named «Azerbaijani Park» since 2013. Initial landscaping proposals were developed, but their execution was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale war.

Currently, the Azerbaijani diaspora in Odessa, which numbers over 30,000 individuals, has presented a new concept for the park. It includes not only the establishment of a recreational area but also a memorial dedicated to Azerbaijanis who lost their lives in the Russo-Ukrainian war. All works are planned to be funded by the diaspora itself.

«We will collaborate with our partners, as Odessa has a beautiful tradition of parks created by friends of our city. This is how the Istanbul Park, Greek Park, and now the Azerbaijani Park came to be,» said Gennady Trukhanov.

The park will be located next to the Odessa hippodrome and will cover an area of over 2 hectares.
