In Odesa, an emergency break of a 1200 mm diameter water pipeline outside the city limits has led to the suspension of several pumping stations to drain the water supply.
To reach the troubled area and begin restoration work, it took nearly a day to construct access roads and a platform for heavy machinery.
Heavy excavators weighing at least 18 tons are used for large diameter pipelines; hence, specialists from «Infoksvodokanal» had to create a special «cushion» made of several layers of concrete slabs and sand. Over 150 tons of sand were consumed.
Currently, specialists have excavated the pit, reached the damage site, and started restoration work.
Due to the lack of centralized water supply, technical water delivery has been organized.
On June 13, water trucks will be stationed from 07:00 at the following addresses:

Drinking water fountains operate from 6:00 AM.
Preliminary estimates suggest that restoration work will continue until 10:00 PM.
