In the latest Times Higher Education university rankings for 2026, 22 Ukrainian institutions have made the list — five more than last year. Among these are two universities from Odesa. This information comes from the World University Rankings 2026.
This year, Ukraine set a record with 22 universities included in the Times Higher Education global rankings — the highest number to date. Odesa National University named after Ilya Mechnikov is ranked in the 1501+ category, while Odesa Polytechnic University has achieved 'participant' status.
The best performance among Ukrainian universities was shown by Sumy State University, which entered the 801–1000 group. The other universities, including those from Odesa, ranked lower, but their presence in the list indicates a gradual development and improvement in the quality of education in Ukraine. Despite the challenging circumstances, universities continue to advance research activities, expand international cooperation, and attract students from various countries.
