Ukraine's education system is undergoing significant transformations to meet the new challenges and societal needs. The need for students to develop practical skills that will enable them to ensure the safety of themselves and their families has become increasingly important.
This is why the teaching of the subject «Defense of Ukraine» is being reformed.
Initiated by the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa City Council, a working meeting was held at Odesa Lyceum No. 1 named after A.P. Bystrina to discuss the establishment of teaching centers for the subject «Defense of Ukraine» in communal secondary education institutions in Odesa.
The meeting included school leaders, teachers of the subject «Defense of Ukraine», representatives of veteran and community organizations, members of the Odesa City Council, and members of the Coordination Council on National-Patriotic Education.
During the meeting, issues regarding the creation and functioning of teaching centers for the subject «Defense of Ukraine», the rational use of resources, and improving the organizational level of the subject in light of current challenges were discussed.
The attendees were introduced to recommendations for setting up these centers, developed by the project office for «Updating the Defense of Ukraine Curriculum» supported by the «Partnership for a Strong Ukraine» Fund, as well as an algorithm for creating centers for teaching the subject «Defense of Ukraine» in educational institutions.
