A 48-year-old man in the Lyubashivka community was arrested for illegally manufacturing a shortened shotgun from parts discovered at a scrap yard. This incident has led to the opening of a criminal case that could result in a prison sentence of up to 7 years.
Receiving a tip, the police conducted a search of the man's property. During the investigation, they found a sawed-off shotgun and 93 rounds of various calibers in his garage, which were sent for forensic analysis.
The man claimed that he found the ammunition and parts of a double-barreled shotgun at the scrap yard and decided to take them home. He assembled a firearm from the barrel, stock, and trigger mechanism he found, shortening it in the process.
"The suspect has been charged with the illegal manufacture, acquisition, and possession of firearms without lawful permission. Under these articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces up to seven years in prison. The pre-trial investigation is completed, and the case has been forwarded to court" - police stated.
