A local official in the Odesa region is being prosecuted for receiving 10,000 UAH from the head of a homeowners' association in exchange for property improvement services. The investigation is complete, and the indictment has been submitted to the court.
The case was investigated by police detectives in collaboration with the Security Service of Ukraine, who documented the illegal actions of the official.
The official proposed to solve the property improvement issue for a fee, without a formal contract, using resources from a municipal enterprise under his control.
To expedite the work, including trimming trees and cleaning up debris, he demanded a "thank you" payment of 10,000 UAH.
Law enforcement apprehended him immediately after he received the bribe, seizing the money as evidence for the criminal case, which has been placed under court seizure.
He was suspended from his position during the pre-trial investigation, and the court imposed a preventive measure of detention with the option of bail, which he utilized.
“We have gathered sufficient evidence to bring charges of bribery, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and may include disqualification from holding certain positions,” said Senior Investigator Yuliya Bondarenko.
