For the first time, Ukraine is celebrating Children's Protection Day on November 20, coinciding with Universal Children's Day.

This holiday was established by Presidential Decree No. 355/2025 on May 30, 2025, and is observed annually.

Previously, Children's Protection Day was celebrated on June 1 according to the Presidential decree from May 30, 1998, which is now no longer in effect.

The Ministry of Defense stated that the Defense Forces are doing everything possible to protect children and their future. 

«Today, Ukraine honors the memory of children whose lives were cut short by Russian terrorists. The aggressor denied them the opportunity to grow up in a peaceful country, to dream, and to enjoy their childhood. It is the duty of Ukraine and the entire civilized world to ensure that those responsible for these inhuman crimes are held accountable. Our military does everything possible every day to protect children and our future», - the statement reads.
