Today, July 31, the mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, met with participants and coaches from the city’s team that will represent Odessa at the 57th International Children's Games.
The competitions are scheduled to take place from August 3 to 8, 2025, in Tallinn, Estonia.
During the meeting, the mayor presented athletes with their new sports uniforms featuring the country’s and city’s symbols, wishing them success and outstanding performances on the international stage.
“As someone who has dedicated their life to sports, I firmly believe that children should grow up active, strong, and healthy. Sports are not just about physical training; they teach character, discipline, and teamwork. We have always supported and will continue to support young athletes and the development of sports infrastructure in Odessa,” emphasized Gennadiy Trukhanov.
This year, the Odessa delegation consists of 16 athletes, 3 coaches, the head of the delegation, and a representative from the city government. The city will be represented by two 3x3 basketball teams (boys and girls) and a swimming team.
The organization of participation is provided by the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Odessa City Council.
The delegation has already registered on the official competition portal and has prepared all necessary documentation for travel.
The International Children's Games are held annually under the auspices of the International Olympic Committee, uniting young athletes from around the globe to strengthen peace and friendship through sports.
Over 900 young athletes from 70 cities worldwide are expected to participate. Odessa traditionally supports youth, sports, and international partnerships, and this year’s participation in prestigious competitions confirms this commitment.
