Odesa made its mark in Hamburg: the Odesa-Tage in Hamburg festival was a resounding success

From September 14 to 17, 2025, Hamburg experienced a unique cultural infusion from the Black Sea city of Odesa.

The Odesa-Tage festival, organized by cultural manager Irina Timakh and her initiative Culture in Action, attracted thousands of attendees and gifted the city with three emotionally charged evenings.

The first night featured jazz, pop, and the light-hearted charm of Odesa humor — the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a packed audience.

The second day, a Benefizkonzert at Hamburg-Haus Eimsbüttel, transformed into a musical journey from Ukrainian classics to European masterpieces. Co-organizer Julia Zekler, a talented pianist, captivated the audience with her professionalism.

The festival concluded with an immersive performance titled “Nachbarn,” which became the highlight of Odesa-Tage. Guests felt transported to an Odessa courtyard: jokes, laughter, delicious dishes, and warm embraces created a unique space where Hamburg experienced the heart of Odessa. French actors Oleg Savchenko and Ksenia Rudkovska added a special charm to the show.

The festival received numerous positive reviews: attendees noted the sincerity of the atmosphere, high-quality programming, and the distinct Odessa flavor. Odesa-Tage demonstrated how art can unite cities and cultures, serving as a vibrant example of mutual support between Hamburg and Odesa.

Irina Timakh, festival organizer:

«We aimed not just to showcase Odesa, but to let Hamburg feel it. And we succeeded: laughter, music, and neighborly conversations came alive here, in northern Germany. Thank you to all our partners, volunteers, and audience members for this incredible journey!»

Odesa-Tage in Hamburg marked a significant step in strengthening cultural bridges between the two port cities, proving that art speaks a universal language.

The events were part of the celebrations for Odesa City Day.
