From October 15 to 20, the Ukraine Fencing Cup took place, marking the first national event of the 2025-2026 season for adults.
The tournament, held at the CSK ZSU sports complex in the capital, gathered 345 participants (153 women and 192 men).
The winner of the Ukraine Cup was Odesa sabre fencer Alina Komashchuk (coaches – Oleksandr Vasyutin, Nikita Stolbunov). In the final, she triumphed over last year’s champion, Oleksandra Bondar from Mykolaiv. In the semifinals, Alina defeated the current cup holder Daria Gontsova from Cherkasy with a score of 15:9. This marks Alina's second victory in the Ukraine Cup.
In the men's competitions, Andrii Yahodka (coach – Oleksandr Vasyutin) earned a silver medal. He secured 10 consecutive victories on his way to the final (6 in the pool, 4 in the main draw), but struggled against Kyiv's Oleksiy Statsenko in the decisive match, losing 5:15. Previously, Andrii had won 8 of the last 10 Ukraine Cups.
