The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has declared new peace initiatives during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The ceasefire will be in effect from 00:00 May 8 to 00:00 May 11, according to reports from Russian news agencies.

Putin also stated that the Ukrainian side should follow these initiatives.

He added that if the ceasefire is violated by Ukraine, Russian forces will respond appropriately and decisively.
