The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a resolution for launching an experimental project — the Museum Fund Registry of Ukraine. This digital system will unify all data regarding museum items, ensuring their accounting, preservation, and protection. It aims to enhance transparency and control in all processes.
“Each museum will have its own account and free access to a unified interface. The digital registry will serve as a basis for monitoring, inventorying, and controlling the movement of museum valuables both within Ukraine and abroad. It will also provide access to collection data and assist in the search and recovery of stolen or lost exhibits. Thanks to this registry, we will be able to implement other projects faster, particularly in evacuation. This is a crucial step for preserving our cultural heritage,” stated Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy, Tetiana Berezhna.
The resolution is essential for streamlining processes related to the collection, storage, protection, and processing of information about museum items and collections belonging to the state part of the Museum Fund of Ukraine.
The registry will enable monitoring, inventorying, and controlling the movement of museum valuables, and will provide tools for accessing information about the search and recovery of stolen or lost items. Additionally, the system will ensure convenient and secure access to data on museum collections.

The registry will allow:

  • the digital recording of each museum item;
  • control over the movement of exhibits in Ukraine and abroad;
  • quick response in cases of theft or disappearance of cultural valuables;
  • the creation of a database for the return of lost museum items;
  • the formation of analytics on the status of museum collections.

The experimental project will last up to two years, during which technical solutions, the interaction procedures of the Registry with other electronic systems, and user groups will be tested.
The establishment of the Registry is a significant step towards preserving Ukraine's Museum Fund and enhancing the role of museums in shaping modern Ukrainian culture.
