The box office earnings of the third film in the franchise «Avatar: Fire and Ash» (Avatar: Fire and Ash) by Canadian director James Cameron surpassed 1 billion dollars in just 18 days of its global release. This was reported by Variety.
To date, the film has grossed 1.083 billion dollars at theaters, with 306 million dollars coming from North America and 777.1 million dollars from the rest of the world.
It is noted that the third installment of the «Avatar» franchise reached the billion-dollar mark slightly slower than its predecessor.
Specifically, «Avatar: The Way of Water» (2022) joined the billion-dollar club after only 14 days in theaters.
The first «Avatar» from 2009 took 17 days to reach this milestone.
Currently, the question remains whether «Avatar: Fire and Ash» can maintain its box office pace to exceed two billion dollars globally.
Achieving this figure will largely depend on the international audience, which was responsible for the first two films reaching such incredible heights.
The first «Avatar» earned 2.1 billion dollars outside North America, while the sequel brought in 1.65 billion dollars in international markets.
During its first week in theaters, the third film «Avatar: Fire and Ash» grossed 450 million dollars.
