The city of Odesa has acquired 7 new cogeneration units with a total capacity of 2.2 MW as part of the initiative «Enhancing Urban Resilience in the Sphere of Essential Services for Municipal Communities in Ukraine» (SUR).

This initiative is part of German transitional aid, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and executed by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Currently, the first two units have been installed, which will provide stable heating for about 23,000 users, including residential buildings, schools, and medical facilities.

«These units generate heat and electricity simultaneously, allowing the heating plants to operate even in the event of a total power outage in the city. We are preparing for winter now to ensure our people are warm under any circumstances. I sincerely thank our partners», said the Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov.

The installation of cogeneration units is ongoing.
