In Odesa, a series of modifications to the Tatra trams are underway, featuring lift installations.
The first tram equipped with this new technology is already operating on route No. 15. By the end of the year, two more trams will be modernized with lift mechanisms developed by specialists from KP «OMET», currently undergoing patent approval.
According to the mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, participation in the InnTrans exhibition in Berlin helped to address long-standing issues faced by post-Soviet countries.
The Tatra trams are among the best Czech transport modifications and continue to operate in cities like Prague. The adaptations made by Odesa engineers enhance comfort for passengers with disabilities.
Prior to the modernization, extensive discussions were held with primary users of the lift mechanism — veterans, representatives of mobility-impaired groups, and their caregivers.
Participants of the meeting noted the convenience and reliability of the new mechanism. Series installation of lifts on the modernized trams is starting at KP «OMET».
