In Odessa, on Heroes of Defense Street, a man attacked a woman in the entrance of her apartment building. The assailant brandished a knife, stole a gold chain from the victim, and fled the scene. However, police acted swiftly and arrested the perpetrator within just a few hours. It was discovered that the stolen jewelry was exchanged for drugs.
The incident occurred on the morning of April 15, when a 63-year-old woman was returning home. An unknown man followed her into the entrance, cornered her, held a knife to her neck, and took her jewelry.
Police responded promptly, brought in canine units, and identified the suspect in less than a day. The attacker turned out to be a 33-year-old man with a criminal record and no permanent residence. It was revealed that he exchanged the stolen chain for narcotics. Authorities are currently working to locate the missing jewelry.
"The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. He has been charged under part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - robbery committed under martial law conditions. The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison with asset confiscation. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odessa" - the statement reads.
