A tragic event unfolded in the Bereziv district of Odessa, where a one-year-old boy died in a hospital after sustaining injuries. His mother has been arrested on suspicion of abuse.

This has been confirmed by the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Odessa region.

The child was brought to the hospital in critical condition by his 26-year-old mother. Doctors diagnosed him with a traumatic brain injury and old fractures.

The mother claimed that her son had fallen off the bed. Unfortunately, the child passed away in the hospital.

Authorities discovered that the woman had deceived them and ultimately concluded that she inflicted physical harm on her son while he was crying.

The mother has been arrested and charged under Article 121 of the Criminal Code for causing serious bodily harm. Police noted that she faces significant prison time.

A preventive measure of detention has been chosen for the suspect.

As part of the investigation, several expert examinations have been ordered, including a forensic examination to determine the exact cause of the child's death.

It is worth mentioning that recently in Ternopil region, a woman was sentenced for intentionally stabbing her three-year-old son in the eye, which resulted in the child losing sight in one eye.
