In the Odesa region near Chornomorsk, three individuals falsely claiming to be military personnel attacked a 41-year-old cyclist. They forcibly shoved him into a car while demanding his documents. Law enforcement has already charged the attackers.
According to the Odesa police press service, the incident occurred on a road near Chornomorsk. The young men in military uniforms obstructed the cyclist's path, identified themselves as workers from the territorial recruitment and social support center, and began demanding documents, while also resorting to violence.
It has been reported that the attackers have no actual ties to military service. They forcibly stuffed the victim into their car, but he managed to call the police by dialing 102.
The police quickly located the victim and discovered that the assailants were members of a local civic organization that does not have the authority to carry out mobilization activities.
Authorities seized the vehicle used in the assault, along with membership credentials from the organization and other evidence relevant to the investigation from the suspects, aged 22, 25, and 27.
They have been charged with unlawfully assuming authority and illegally detaining a person with physical harm inflicted on the victim. Under these charges, they face up to five years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
