Law enforcement officials have apprehended a 50-year-old homeless man who set fire to a car due to personal grievances. The suspect has been charged, and the court has chosen a preventive measure. He could face up to 10 years behind bars.

Recently, firefighters contacted the police to report a fire in a Volkswagen vehicle on one of the streets in the Peresyp district. Within three hours, operatives established that the arson was committed by a 50-year-old man without a permanent residence.
Investigators collected several pieces of evidence which were sent for examination. Police discovered that the individual committed the crime as an act of revenge against the 30-year-old owner of the car for not allowing him into the entrance of the apartment building where his friend resides.
"We have detained the suspect and informed him of the allegations regarding intentional damage to someone else's property through arson. According to part 2 of article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this crime is punishable by up to ten years in prison. The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to bail set at 121,120 UAH. The extent of damage caused to the victim is being determined. The investigation continues under the supervision of the Surovovskaya District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa," said Natalia Mrochko, Deputy Head of the Investigative Department of Police Unit No. 3 of Odesa District Police No. 1.
