The city authorities of Odesa remind residents of the importance of following safety rules during icy conditions:

• Wear comfortable shoes with a sturdy, preferably textured, sole. Avoid high heels or stilettos.
• Be very careful when moving on ice. It’s better to avoid icy areas. Walk slowly, with slightly bent knees, relaxing them a bit, and distribute your weight evenly across your foot.
• Exercise extra caution when crossing the road—do not run. Remember that a vehicle's stopping distance increases significantly on snowy roads.
• Stand away from the edge of the road at bus stops to prevent slipping and falling into traffic.
• Do not keep your hands in your pockets while walking—this increases the chance of injury during a fall. Hold onto the handrail when descending stairs.
• Pregnant women are advised not to go out alone.
