Renovation works are actively ongoing at the Odessa City Clinical Infectious Disease Hospital.

The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, inspected the progress of the major repairs and reconstruction of the hospital.

Currently, restoration works are being conducted on two historic buildings of the hospital – the Valikhovsky and administrative buildings. This is part of the Ukraine recovery program being implemented by the government in partnership with the European Investment Bank.

Additionally, the renovation of the children's department, built in 1974, is nearing completion. These works are funded by the Odessa city budget. Plans include installing modern wards with ventilation systems to prevent hospital-acquired infections.

Special attention is being paid to accessibility: entrances are equipped with convenient ramps, and elevators have been installed in the building to assist the movement of patients and staff.

“Soon the infectious disease hospital will have a completely updated modern department that meets today's requirements. This will enhance Odessa's capacity to combat infectious diseases,” said Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

In 2025, reconstruction of the bacteriological laboratory building will also take place.

The large-scale phased reconstruction of the city clinical infectious disease hospital began in 2015 with the construction of a specialized building for patients with droplet infections. Since then, the hospital has introduced a modern reception area, three new isolation departments, a cutting-edge PCR laboratory, oxygen stations, and cryo-cylinders.

In 2024, with the support of UNICEF, an artesian well was put into operation, providing the facility with autonomous water supply, and solar panels were installed on three hospital buildings.
