Last week, healthcare facilities in Odesa conducted a preventive campaign for primary oncology screening through blood laboratory tests. This event was organized with the support of the Health Department of the Odesa City Council and the Odesa City Health Center.
On this day, in the laboratories of primary healthcare centers and diagnostic centers, residents had the opportunity to check their hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) for free, either by self-referral or by electronic referral.
As a result of the event, 815 individuals visited clinical diagnostic laboratories for oncology screening. A total of 235 cases of abnormal ESR were identified: 226 had elevated levels, while 9 had decreased levels. Additionally, 214 patients showed deviations in hemoglobin levels: 165 had low levels, and 49 had high levels. These indicators are crucial for early detection of changes that may relate to cancerous diseases.
All patients with identified deviations are advised to consult their family doctor for further examinations to rule out oncological pathologies.
