To improve the effectiveness of disease prevention, early detection, and timely treatment, the Odessa City Council's Health Department has initiated free preventive campaigns in health facilities across Odessa, as part of the City Health Program for 2024-2026.

In 2024, at the initiative of the Health Department, the Municipal Institution «Odessa City Health Center» organized and conducted 29 health days for both adults and children in Odessa.

The goal of these campaigns is to raise awareness among residents about risk factors and the prevention of common diseases, as well as to facilitate early detection for timely treatment and motivate the population towards a healthy lifestyle.

During the campaigns, doctors from Odessa's healthcare facilities provided free preventive examinations, including ophthalmological, dental, dermatological with dermatoscopy, otolaryngological, gynecological with cytological testing, urological examinations, PSA tests, breast mammography, ECG, ultrasound, and fluorography; they measured blood pressure, assessed blood glucose levels and body mass index, as well as vision and hearing acuity; they conducted laboratory tests and offered consultations.

Throughout the year, a total of 40,911 individuals underwent preventive examinations in Odessa's medical institutions, including 37,384 adults and 3,527 children. Specifically, cancer screenings reached 13,378 individuals, comprising 3,903 men and 9,475 women.

All patients with identified health issues were referred to specialized professionals. Timely diagnosis is crucial for successful treatment outcomes.

Additionally, this year, Odessa's medical institutions actively participated in initiatives aimed at raising awareness about mental health, prevention, and treatment of its disorders. As part of the nationwide mental health program «How are you?», initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska, a Month of Mental Health Awareness was held, during which around 1,000 residents of Odessa received psychological assistance.
