New nurseries have been established in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions aimed at revitalizing forestry in the liberated territories of the Kherson region. The total area of these nurseries covers 45 hectares, with each forestry site having its own plot ranging from 0.3 to 3 hectares.
According to the Southern Forestry Office of the State Enterprise «Forests of Ukraine», these areas were barren just a year ago, and now seedlings planted in the spring of 2025 and autumn of 2024 are being cultivated.
“A year ago, this place was overrun with weeds. Thanks to the company's investments, the nurseries have been restored – we have acquired equipment for soil cultivation, irrigation systems, and shading nets to protect seedlings from the intense southern sun. A new staff has been formed,” they report.
In spring 2026, it is planned to obtain 25 million seedlings, enabling reforestation of 4-5 thousand hectares.
A significant portion of the planting material will be directed towards restoring forests in the liberated areas that will join the State Enterprise «Forests of Ukraine» this year.
