Odesa showcased its advancements once again at the national conference dedicated to the 'Movement Without Barriers' initiative.
On June 18, 2025, the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine hosted the second national meeting regarding the implementation of the flagship project 'Movement Without Barriers'.
The event was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister for Ukraine's Reconstruction, Oleksii Kuleba, with the participation of Deputy Minister Natalia Kozlovska.
Secretary of the Barrier-Free Council, Oleksandr Zhyltsov, reported on the progress of the city's Barrier-Free Plan and introduced new initiatives being implemented in Odesa. Special attention was given to the ongoing work at key locations such as hospitals and transport hubs, where creating a barrier-free environment is crucial.
Currently, Odesa is actively implementing inclusive bus stops, operating a social taxi service, adapting medical facilities, and executing solutions to support veterans and people with limited mobility.
All barrier-free projects in Odesa are initiated by the city's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, and coordinated by the Barrier-Free Council of the Odesa City Council.
It’s worth noting that Odesa is among the pilot communities participating in the 'Movement Without Barriers' project. This initiative is part of the National Strategy for creating a barrier-free space in Ukraine by 2030, under the patronage of Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska.
