In the Odesa region, four major fires broke out within a single day, destroying dozens of hectares of land and claiming one life while injuring three others who suffered burns. This information was reported by the State Emergency Service (SES).
On July 7, during the day, a fire broke out outside the village of Novopetrivka in the Rozdilna district, affecting an area of 23 hectares, consuming stubble, shrubs, and a strip of forest. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire and the damage are currently being investigated. Fortunately, there were no fatalities or injuries. The SES deployed 5 units of equipment and 15 firefighters.
On the same day, July 7, a fire occurred outside the village of Velyki Lonzaky in the Odesa district, burning stubble over an area of 2.5 hectares and four abandoned outbuildings. The firefighters managed to extinguish the fire.
“As a result of attempting to extinguish the fire independently, a woman born in 1955 was hospitalized with I-II degree burns on both lower limbs,” the SES reported.
In the village of Broska in the Izmail district, on July 7, dry grass caught fire over an area of 2.5 hectares, along with two abandoned buildings in a dacha cooperative. Firefighters extinguished the blaze.
“Unfortunately, a body of a woman born in 1947 was found at the scene, who apparently tried to extinguish the fire herself. The SES involved 2 units of equipment and 7 firefighters, while local fire teams ‘Ozerne’ and ‘Katlabuh’ provided 1 unit of equipment and 2 personnel each,” the press service reported.
In the evening of July 7, a fire broke out in the village of Novosvitivka in the Berezivka district, affecting an area of 2.5 hectares. During an attempt to extinguish the fire independently, two underage girls aged 15 and 17 were hospitalized due to poisoning from combustion products. The SES deployed 3 units of equipment and 10 firefighters.
