In Odessa, a service dog named Elsa performed a heroic act by saving the life of a 74-year-old man. Along with her handler, Marina Novitska, she located the elderly man who had gone missing the previous day.
After nearly a day of unsuccessful searches, the man's family reached out for help from the authorities.
“The grandfather disappeared unexpectedly, and family searches were fruitless. Only when the family contacted the police did our service dog catch the scent and lead us. In the rain, at night, Elsa worked tirelessly and found the man unconscious but, fortunately, alive, in a field near the village of Delzhyler,” said Andriy Nebytov, Deputy Head of the National Police.
Officers called medics to the scene who provided necessary assistance to the victim.
Andriy Nebytov added that service dogs are indispensable helpers in the daily work of the police.
