The city of Odessa has initiated inspections of rented beach areas to evaluate their compliance with operational standards, sanitation, and free access for citizens.
As per the mayor's decision, a working group has been formed, including representatives from local government, the Barrier-Free Council, and veterans.
The primary goal of the group is to assess the level of accessibility, inclusivity, and free access to beach areas.
On August 22, the group inspected the beaches in the Kyiv district. Members of the working group checked if 30% of the rented area was designated for free use; the presence of illegal fences or structures obstructing access; adherence to sanitation standards; conditions for people with disabilities; and free passage along the water's edge and between beach sections.
During the inspection, various violations were discovered, including the placement of sun loungers near the water, obstructing passage, and illegal temporary structures on the promenades. Renters received orders for immediate rectification of the identified issues.
Following the inspection, comprehensive recommendations will be prepared to improve beach accessibility for the upcoming resort season.
