16th Odesa International Film Festival: New Horizons

image

The 16th Odesa International Film Festival is preparing two unique programs for its viewers — "Festival of Festivals" and "Ukrainian Film Festival". These programs will showcase the most relevant films addressing crucial social issues: freedom, memory, human relationships, and global challenges.

This was announced by the press service of the Odesa International Film Festival.

Festival Programs

The "Festival of Festivals" program will feature films from various countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Czech Republic, USA, and more. Audiences will witness dramatic stories that explore themes of human trauma, the fragility of trust, struggles with the past, and attempts to find hope. Among the films are "The Ceremony", "Loneliness Evenings", "Sicilian Letters", "The Conductor", and others that have already received recognition at international festivals in Venice, Cannes, San Sebastián, and Karlovy Vary.

The "Ukrainian Film Festival" program will bring together new works by Ukrainian directors. Among them are "Queens of Joy" about the struggle of the LGBTQ+ community during the war, "Bartka" addressing environmental challenges in the Carpathians, and "Antarctica: War Diaries", which showcases the expedition of Ukrainian scientists during the Russian invasion.

The organizers emphasize that all films share a common trait: they address global issues through personal stories that resonate with everyone.

Where It Will Take Place

This year, the 16th Odesa International Film Festival (OIFF) will be held in Kyiv from September 24 to October 4, 2025. It has been moved from Odesa due to the full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine.

Recall that we reported that Olya Polyakova announced her own film. We also mentioned that Netflix premiered a teaser for a detective saga featuring Daniel Craig.
