image

In the Black Sea, approximately 140 kilometers east of Varna, the cargo ship EILEEN (flagged in Cameroon) sank. This was reported by Maritime.bg.
Yesterday around 1 PM, the ship sent out a distress signal indicating water ingress in the hull.
The captain ordered the crew of ten Ukrainian sailors to abandon the vessel. They were able to evacuate using two lifeboats. The offshore vessel MURAT ILHAN, which was closest to the scene, rescued the sailors.
The cargo ship EILEEN was built in 1993 and is currently operated by a company based in Odesa.
The last inspection, conducted in Izmail, revealed five violations.
Due to these violations, the ship was detained in Poti (Georgia) in July, in Astakos (Greece) in June, and in Tuzla (Turkey) in March.
