A new exhibition titled "German Heritage in Ukraine" has opened at the UNESCO center in Regensburg.

This exhibition, brought from Odesa, features a rich collection of materials that depict the lives of German settlers since the early 19th century and their impact on the development of Odesa and the surrounding areas.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: historical, artistic, and contemporary. The historical section was prepared by renowned Odesa historian Oleksandr Surilov, while the artistic section showcases works by Odesa artist Tetiana Romanenko.

The exhibition also highlights the collaboration between the cities and the support Regensburg has provided to Odesa during the war.

The exhibition was organized with the support of the Department of Culture of Odesa and the Department of Cultural Heritage of Regensburg.

At the opening, Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov and Regensburg Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer were present, along with representatives from the scientific and cultural communities.

Hennadii Trukhanov expressed gratitude to everyone for their support of Odesa.

"Soon it will be a thousand days of war and a thousand days of our heroic defense, as well as the incredible support European countries are providing to Ukraine, particularly Regensburg to Odesa," he stated.

The mayor emphasized that during the war, Odesa has become a home for many displaced persons, just as it was when various nationalities such as Ukrainians, Germans, Jews, Greeks, Armenians, and Poles settled on the shores of the Black Sea. Each contributed to the cultural development of the city.

"Germany has significantly influenced the agricultural development and infrastructure of the region. We value this contribution and continue to deepen our relations," he added.

Our relationship with Regensburg remains strong and unwavering, just like our faith in victory and the independence of Ukraine. We strive for a better future, knowing that together we can overcome any challenges.
