Preparations for the New Heating Season in Odesa

The Odesa Heating Utility is actively preparing for the 2024/25 heating season.

In light of constant attacks on the country's energy infrastructure, one of the primary tasks is to reduce energy consumption at the enterprise.

Deputy Mayor Hanna Pozdnyakova noted that most of the pumping units at the Odesa Heating Utility are significantly worn out and consume excessive amounts of electricity under current conditions.

This is why, ahead of the new heating season, discussions took place between the management of the Heating Utility and the Swiss Embassy in Ukraine regarding the supply of four pumps, each with a capacity of 200 kW. The expected outcome is a reduction in energy consumption amid shortages.

According to the signed Memorandum, the Swiss Embassy has financed the purchase of equipment costing approximately 12 million hryvnias.

In early October, four anticipated pumps arrived in Odesa. The equipment is currently being installed at one of the facilities of the Odesa Heating Utility, which serves over 100,000 consumers and more than 421 administrative buildings, including medical, educational, cultural, and religious institutions.

“These pumps are crucial for the heating supply in Odesa. With reduced energy expenditure, they will help provide thermal energy to consumers in the central part of the city. Reducing consumption is especially important during power outages from central electricity supply and when generators are in operation,” said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Odesa expresses gratitude to international partners for their ongoing technical support for critical infrastructure enterprises in the city.
