Under the supervision of the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office, five residents of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district have been charged with sabotage, intentional damage to energy facilities and property (Part 2 of Article 113, Part 2 of Article 194-1, Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects received instructions from a Russian security service employee to carry out acts of sabotage for monetary compensation at Ukrzaliznytsia facilities and strategically important enterprises in the district.
For several months, they organized arson of relay and battery cabinets, transformer substations, as well as buildings of local authorities.
The arsons were carried out at night, using flammable substances, special equipment to open cabinets, and pre-prepared transport for quick movement between locations.
To confirm task completion to their handlers, the suspects recorded their actions on video.
Currently, all five have been placed in custody without the right to bail.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
