The South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynsky hosted an event titled ‘Mental Health Preservation’. This initiative was implemented as part of the ‘How are you?’ program initiated by Ukraine's First Lady, Olena Zelenska.
The aim of the event was to raise awareness about the significance of mental health and to create a space for dialogue and experience sharing.
Over 40 participants attended in person and more than 100 joined online, including students, psychologists, educators, and community activists.
Speakers included Deputy Head of the Odesa Regional Administration Dmytro Radulov, University Rector Andrii Kraznozhon, and regional coordinator of the ‘How are you?’ program Anna Velychko, who emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts in the field of mental health and the special role of youth in building societal psychological resilience.
The program featured thematic quizzes, interactive activities, and practical tools for supporting mental well-being.
The event was moderated by Andrii Bortov, head of the mental health center, who presented relevant statistical data regarding mental health professional consultations.
At the end of the event, participants engaged in a gratitude practice, creating a symbolic ‘Tree of Gratitude’ with personal wishes and words of support.
The event confirmed the growing interest in mental health topics and the importance of continuing such initiatives in the region.
The development and implementation of the ‘How are you?’ national mental health program is supported by the Cabinet of Ministers’ Coordination Center with expert assistance from the World Health Organization.
