Legendary player of Kyiv's Dynamo, Andriy Yarmolenko, has announced his intention to retire after the 2025/26 season.
Yarmolenko made the statement during an interview with the YouTube channel "Center of Football News".
"We discussed this with the head coach and the president. It was important for me to hear that I am valued as a player. I don't want to stay in the club based on past achievements. When I listened to the coach and the president, I realized they see me as a crucial part of the team. That's why I signed a contract for another year. Will this be my last contract? I can confidently say that this is my final year as a footballer," Yarmolenko said.
Yarmolenko is a product of Chernihiv football. He played 393 matches for Dynamo in all competitions, scoring 157 goals, which is the third-highest in the club's history. Only Serhiy Rebrov (163 goals) and Oleg Blokhin (265) scored more. He also played abroad for Borussia Dortmund, Al Ain, and West Ham.
Additionally, he is a legend of the Ukrainian national team. Yarmolenko has 125 caps and 46 goals, ranking second in both categories in the team's history. If we exclude traitor Anatoliy Tymoshchuk, Yarmolenko has the most appearances for the national team.
