The Odesa Half Marathon brought together over 600 participants from various regions of Ukraine and around the world.
The race route highlighted iconic locations in Odesa, including Primorsky Boulevard, Deribasivska, and the Sabaneyev Bridge, along with Gogol, Rishelievska, and Lanzheronivska streets.
The mayor of Odesa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, welcomed the half marathon participants on the Day of Physical Culture and Sports, expressing gratitude to the organizers and the Armed Forces of Ukraine for enabling such events.
He emphasized the personal significance of sports in his life, stating:
«Those who are here today are already winners!»
The first participants of this major athletic event included veterans and individuals with mobility impairments.
Alexey Morozov, advisor to the mayor and head of the NGO «Barrier-Free», noted the ongoing development of adaptive sports and rehabilitation programs in the city.
The «INDEPENDENCE HALF MARATHON» featured the following distances:
- Children’s distances — from 60 m to 1 km,
- Adults — 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km.
Today, the marathon brought participants together not just through sport but also for a noble cause — raising funds for the prosthetics of patients at the Odesa Superhumans Center.
