The final stage of the repatriation efforts has been completed in Ukraine, as per the agreements reached in Istanbul. A total of 1245 bodies have been returned, which, according to Russian sources, belong to Ukrainian citizens, including military personnel. Thus, the total number of bodies returned to Ukraine has reached 6057.

Law enforcement agencies, in collaboration with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, will conduct all necessary examinations and identifications of the repatriated bodies.

The repatriation actions were made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Coordinating Staff on Prisoner of War Issues, the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other security and defense structures.

We express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their support.

A special thanks goes to the personnel of the Central Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Joint Center, who are responsible for transporting the repatriated individuals to designated state specialized institutions and organizing the transfer of deceased individuals to law enforcement agencies and forensic examination services.
