As part of a new prisoner exchange agreement reached in Istanbul, a group of severely ill Ukrainian soldiers has just been freed.
Today marked an important step in the ongoing exchange of prisoners, focusing on those who are seriously ill and injured. The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, on the instruction of the President of Ukraine, has released a group of defenders suffering from significant health issues.
The released include servicemen from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, particularly from the Naval Forces, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, and other units.
Each released defender has serious medical diagnoses, including weight loss, dystrophy, and other ailments resulting from injuries and prolonged captivity.
Many of them were held captive for over three years, especially during the defense of Mariupol.
All released individuals are from the ranks of privates and sergeants.
They fought in various regions, including Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, as well as in Zaporizhzhia and Kyiv regions.
After their release, the defenders will undergo medical examinations and receive necessary rehabilitation assistance.
The Coordination Headquarters continues to work on the next phases of the prisoner exchange.
We are committed to bringing everyone home!
Glory to Ukraine!
