From October 10 to 12, 2025, the fifth Ukrainian Film Festival took place in Riga, becoming a significant platform for cultural exchange between Ukraine and Latvia.

This event was organized with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema and the involvement of charitable organizations such as ChF "Doors" and associations dedicated to the development of Ukrainian culture in Latvia.

This year, the festival introduced a new format: a Round Table discussion on «Prospects for Ukrainian Cinema and Cooperation with European Filmmakers,» gathering representatives from the cultural and educational sectors of both countries.

The festival featured screenings of Ukrainian films presented by the filmmakers themselves.

The head of the Odesa Film Studio, Anna Docheva, presented the film «Why I Am Alive» directed by Vilēns Novaks, marking an important moment in the history of Ukrainian cinema.

During the festival, Valters Kagainis was awarded the «Legends of Odesa Film Studio» prize for his significant contribution to the development of Ukrainian cinema.

Screenings were held at the Ksuns/Kinogalerija cinema and the Ukrainian House in Latvia.
