Dear residents of Odesa!
A year has passed, and finally, the Verkhovna Rada has adopted the government bill regarding humanitarian buses.
This initiative was launched by me in the spring of last year. The bill was swiftly prepared by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development and received support from the Association of Cities of Ukraine.
What does this mean for Odesa and other Ukrainian communities that previously received buses from international partners?
In total, this includes over 350 vehicles — spacious, comfortable, and with zero emissions, as confirmed by experiments, designed to transport people with disabilities. For the Odesa community, this means twenty modern Mercedes buses that were handed over by our sister cities in 2024 but had been idle in the fleet of “Odesmiskelektrotrans” due to legislative restrictions.
An important step lies ahead — the Cabinet of Ministers must develop a procedure for the use of humanitarian buses. This will legally allocate the transport to our municipal enterprise, register it, and put it into city routes.
At the same time, we will work on finding and training qualified drivers to ensure quality and safety in transportation for Odesa residents.
Let's keep moving forward!
