Enhancing Energy Independence in Odesa

The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, has convened a meeting to discuss enhancing the city's energy independence.

Participants visited several apartment buildings that have already implemented rooftop solar power systems.

The mayor highlighted the successful operation of these systems, which are currently supplying electricity to residents.

He also emphasized the importance of reducing reliance on external energy networks—residents will always have power, and essential services such as elevators and heating will remain functional thanks to battery backup systems during outages.

Moreover, each homeowners association (HOA) can receive partial reimbursement for their expenses and save on electricity costs for every apartment.

Currently, four homeowners associations, representing over 3,280 residents, have joined the City’s reimbursement program aimed at improving energy efficiency and independence.

It is anticipated that these buildings will reduce their electricity consumption by 30%, significantly lowering family expenses and ensuring stable energy supply even during blackouts.

The Mayor also stressed the importance of continuing efforts toward the city’s energy independence. HOAs interested in transitioning to solar energy can take advantage of support programs that offer reimbursement of 70% to 100% of equipment costs.

The reimbursement is provided by the state Energy Efficiency Fund under the City’s HOA support programs.
