A memorial plaque has been installed on the facade of the Odesa Academic Ukrainian Musical and Dramatic Theater named after Vasyl Vasylko, honoring the notable artist and Righteous Among the Nations, Heinrich Ostashevsky.
His journey is a profound dedication to art, truth, and humanity. With over 45 years of service to the theater and more than 60 years in acting, he used his craft to illuminate the darkness of time. His talent embodies the strength of the Ukrainian spirit, and his life is a testament to moral resilience that remains etched in the memories of audiences and loved ones.
Heinrich Ostashevsky is recognized as one of the Righteous Among the Nations. At a time when evil demanded silence, he chose to act. By sheltering a Jewish family, he not only saved lives but defended the essence of humanity.
The memorial plaque serves as a reminder to remember, act with dignity, and continue the legacy of those who did good in the darkest moments of history.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by representatives of the Jewish community, cultural figures, local and regional authorities, clergy, and the theatrical community.
