In Odesa, the demolition of residential buildings affected by Russian drone strikes is underway.

Today, July 17, a special session of the Executive Committee supported the decision to appoint the Department of Urban Development of the Odesa City Council as the contractor for urgent emergency measures.

According to the technical conclusion and the decision of the regional TEB and NS commission, partial demolition of five buildings is proposed: four near the train station and one on Serednia Street. Two houses on Novoselskoho Street (one of them partially) and a private house on Vynohrarna Street have been deemed unsuitable for restoration.

“Their owners can apply for compensation under the state program eRecovery and receive housing certificates to purchase new housing,” noted Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

Regarding the five partially destroyed buildings, the city authorities will provide support for their restoration. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the total number of damaged objects in Odesa has reached 3,232, of which 1,295 are residential buildings.

“All our actions are not just a technical response to the consequences of enemy attacks, but a manifestation of responsibility toward people who have lost their homes. The city authorities continue to seek resources and partners among both state structures and international organizations to provide essential support,” commented Hennadiy Trukhanov.
