The Odesa region continues to play a pivotal role in Ukraine's agricultural exports. In January 2026, the majority of exports of grains and oilseeds were conducted through the region's ports, highlighting their significance.
According to analysts, the maritime route remains the most crucial channel for Ukrainian agricultural products.
"In January 2026, 3.7 million tons of grains and oilseeds were exported through the ports of the Odesa region, accounting for 89% of the total volume," stated the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club.
Rail transport ranked second, with transportation volumes of about 0.32 million tons, representing 8% of total exports. Other transport modes remain minor in volume.
Analysts also note that before the war, the share of maritime exports through Odesa ports reached 94%, but in the early years of the conflict, this figure significantly dropped due to port blockades. The recovery of maritime exports only became feasible with the return of port infrastructure to normal operations.
However, experts emphasize that the situation remains challenging due to ongoing shelling and energy-related risks.
