Celebrating Independence: Symbols and Significance

image

On Ukraine's Independence Day, August 24, Odessa displayed a massive national flag measuring 34 meters.

Each meter of this fabric represents a year of our freedom. It embodies our triumphs and challenges, our journey through tumultuous times towards unity, dignity, and strength.

Thanks to the courage of Ukrainian soldiers, our flag today flies so high that the world knows about a strong and unyielding Ukraine. Their resilience is what allows us to celebrate, live, and dream.

Therefore, Odessa today holds the blue and yellow banner firmly as a symbol of freedom, gratitude, and hope. It waves over the sea, the streets, and in our hearts. Every gust of wind that unfurls the fabric above the city serves as a reminder: we have endured, we exist, and we will continue!
