Maintenance of Hydraulic Structures in Odesa

image

To ensure safety and proper functioning of drainage systems, specialists from the municipal enterprise «City Roads» in Odesa carry out scheduled cleaning operations.

Special water bodies such as the buffer pond, Romanian canal, and Kuyalnik ditches play a vital role in draining rainwater and melting snow from the city streets.

Using specialized machinery, municipal workers clear the channels and ponds of vegetation, debris, and silt. Particular focus is given to the most polluted areas, especially where drainage from private homes is located.

The Kuyalnik ditch is the main drainage channel, stretching 4650 meters. It runs along Vapnyana and Khadjibeyskaya streets and leads to the pumping station through filtration fields. This ditch facilitates the drainage of water from the surrounding neighborhoods.

Additionally, regular cleaning operations of storm drains and sewage collectors are conducted throughout the city. Heavy machinery such as excavators, graders, and high-pressure hydraulic units are employed in this process.

In case of heavy rainfall, these operations are carried out on an emergency basis.
