Approximately 1500 municipal workers are engaged on the streets of Odessa. Efforts to mitigate the effects of the severe weather that hit the city on September 4-5 are ongoing.
As of the morning of September 6, it has been reported that 40 trees and large branches have been downed in Odessa. More information continues to come in.
The green space workers from the Municipal Greenery Trust and Housing and Utility Services are alternately cutting up and removing fallen trees and branches. Priority is given to clearing trees in areas where they obstruct traffic or access to essential social facilities.
Specialists from the Municipal Roads Company are working on cleaning the grates of storm drains, drainage wells, and collectors. They are manually and with special equipment washing and removing sand and dirt washed onto the city's streets by rainfall.
Additionally, as a result of the severe weather, there have been outages in street lighting at 30 locations. Specialists from Odessa City Light are restoring the functionality of these networks.
Furthermore, municipal workers continue their scheduled activities of cleaning designated areas, collecting, and removing fallen leaves and debris.
