New Initiative for IT Education in Ukraine

A new program called «Innovations in IT» has been launched in Ukraine to train IT specialists.

This initiative was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 01.08.2023, under the policy for implementing educational programs in the field of information technology.

Grant Conditions – a participant who completes the training must secure employment within 30 days under the following conditions:
- by employment contract, gig contract, or freelance contract;
- enter into a civil contract for services;
- register as a sole proprietor or engage in independent professional activities.

Who is the «Innovations in IT» program aimed at?
The program is targeted at citizens of Ukraine (p.p.5, 9 of the Order) who:
- are unemployed;
- have had their employment contract suspended;
- have received unpaid leave;
- are internally displaced persons of working age;
- registered unemployed persons with rights to social services.

Who cannot participate in the «Innovations in IT» program?
The program does not apply to individuals (p.5 of the Order) who:
- lack the required education;
- have less than 18 months of work experience;
- have specialized in IT or have work experience in that industry.

How to obtain a grant for IT training?
The training certificate is issued electronically through the "Diia Portal" after the Employment Center reviews the documents. To obtain a certificate, one must submit:
- an application;
- a resume in the approved format;
- proof of the training provider's readiness;
- a copy of the employment record or information about work experience;
- a copy of the education document (if available);
- documentation confirming unemployment status.

The certificate is valid for 10 working days from the date of issuance.

A list of educational institutions and programs available for training under the certificate will be approved by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

The program aims to enhance employment opportunities for citizens.
