Enhancing Students' Mental Wellbeing in Odesa

Throughout September, educational institutions in Odesa's municipal community implemented a variety of initiatives as part of the national mental health program “How are you?”

These initiatives were designed to enhance the mental wellbeing of participants in the educational process.

Specifically, activities for students included: a themed mental health week “To live meaningfully in this world, we must unite as friends!”, psychological moments and emotional exercises, quests “With a Smile to the Land of Knowledge”, and sessions “How to Overcome Fear During Air Alerts.” Students learned techniques to reduce emotional stress and cope with anxiety.

A social video competition titled “The Meaning of Life and My Place in It”, dance flash mobs during the “Olympic Week”, training sessions, and discussions were also organized for schoolchildren.

Teachers participated in roundtable discussions on “What is Mental Health and How to Maintain It?”, met with psychologists to discuss “Children's Mental Health During War”, attended lessons under the “Safe Space” program, and engaged in seminars and lectures. These events facilitated discussions on supporting students during this challenging time.

Consultations and practical sessions for parents on supporting children during the war were also conducted.

Additionally, school-wide events took place, where informational stands with QR codes for the program “How are you?” were set up in accessible locations.

To promote mental health, reduce stress, and enhance resilience and self-esteem, school campaigns such as “Mood Smile”, “Hugs”, psychological online sessions, and individual consultations for all participants in the educational process were organized.
