May 27 is celebrated as Special Operations Forces Day in Ukraine.

On this day, greetings were delivered by the commander of the SOF, Alexander Trepak, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, the Chief of the General Staff Syrskyi, and the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine.
Rustem Umerov emphasized that SOF warriors carry out critically important missions that require courage and professionalism.
According to him, not all their operations become public, but each one holds significant importance for the defense of Ukraine.
“The SOF warriors are a true elite unit, their bravery and professionalism are remarkable,” noted Umerov.
He also honored the memory of the fallen soldiers, thanking them for their courage and strength.
Greetings from Alexander Trepak
Major General Alexander Trepak congratulated his subordinates on their professional holiday, stating that SOF are those who fight on all fronts.
He reminded that May 27 became a symbolic date associated with the liberation of Donetsk airport in 2014.
Trepak also emphasized that the SOF continue the legacy of their ancestors who fought for Ukrainian independence.
“Your ability to operate in the most challenging conditions makes you true heroes,” he said.
Greetings from General Syrskyi
General Alexander Syrskyi stressed that SOF warriors accomplish incredible tasks.
He noted that on May 27, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree establishing this day as SOF Day.
SOF conduct operations on enemy territory, striking and returning without losses.
“These are the ones who defended our cities and villages, for which we are grateful,” emphasized Syrskyi.
Greetings from the Intelligence Directorate
The Main Intelligence Directorate also sent congratulations to the SOF fighters, highlighting their bravery and determination.
“Glory to the SOF warriors who gave their lives for Ukraine,” the greeting said.
SOF Day: Key Facts
This holiday was established to promote military traditions and recognize the role of SOF in state defense, according to the presidential decree dated July 26, 2016.
As of 2025, May 27 is officially recognized as SOF Day, thanks to President Volodymyr Zelensky's decree.
